“By having too many AdSense sites, will it hurt your overall publisher-id / account and reduce payout amounts?”

I found this post which seems to sum it up best;

For a long period I noticed a trend within my Adsense account that was somewhat disappointing.

When I had high paying days, all of my sites did well. When I had low paying days all of my sites did bad. I rarely had days where one site would do really well and others wouldn’t and vise versa.

I asked several people and posted the question on several forums etc. Noone knew why this would happen.

Then, a few weeks ago a sold a few sites that had extremely low CTR’s. I’m talking extremely bad, below 2%! Now for the past week or so my adsense has risen and I’ve noticed higher paying clicks and CTR’s throughout my entire Adsense account…why?

I just read an article by Courtney Tuttle, which I believe explains exactly why. It’s titled “How to Get Worthless Adsense Clicks.”

In a nutshell he explains how low performing sites can cause your entire Adsense account to drag due to Smart Pricing.

He explains that Internet Marketing related blogs normally perform poorly with Adsense, as most of us already know, but my thinking was, “I won’t leave money on the table, as little as it may be.” Well, now that I’m pondering this concept I’ve went ahead and removed Adsense from this blog, as it was bringing in very little income anyway and could have very well been costing me money.

I run Adsense on about 12 sites and with the removal of this blog I only have one article directory that performs under 4% that I need to deal with.

It’s somewhat exciting to manage my account, removing poor performing sites just to see what kind of a difference it makes.

I’ve already increased my Adsense income by simply removing a few low-performing sites and I’ve definitely seen the effects. But maybe I can increase it even more after removing this blog and working to increase the CTR of the one remaining site that has a low CTR, possibly with Section Targeting.

Personally, I don’t use Technorati in any other form than just a social bookmarking or promotional tool to push my various websites up the link love rankings.

When I logged in today, I noticed my Technorati Authority has climbed a little - not bad considering I haven’t really worked on.

So I thought heck, I am going to do two things. I am going to visit Technorati daily and try and get a greater overall understanding of the service. Forcing myself to visit, will give me a better picture of how it all works and hopefully this will rub off on promoting my sites.

Secondly (as much as I hate competitions) I thought by offering some incentives, I could get some fellow bloggers to add me to their Technorati favourites and boost my standings a little bit.

I have started plotting my daily AdSense earnings on a spreadsheet now, so in a months time I will publish it here for all to see. So far in the past few days I have been recording things I am seeing at least a few cents growth every single day.

The good thing about the continued revenue and advertising earnings growth is that it motivates you to continue building your portfolio of online websites and blogs.

I have slowed down on the content creation for most of my sites now and am working hard on SEO Ranking them for the next few weeks.

As I see the sites / blogs move up in the Google SERP’s I will then move back to more content creation and vice versa.

At the moment I have a big mix of Owned Domains, Blogspot and Wordpress.com addresses all mixed in. The SEO benefits of the blogspot.com domain are not to be discarded. While so worry they are building PageRank (PR) for a domain they don’t own - the flipside is that the Google owned blogspot.com domain is seen in a good light by the Google search engine at least. They rank and get spidered VERY quickly.

For sites where regular content is being displayed, for neatness and repeat visits - you can’t go past Wordpress. Harder for newbies to grasp and it does have some little quirks that can take you while - but in the end it’s worth it.

I’ve been doing some charts on my structure of meshed link building, and it really looks scary! I divide it into three sections.

Section 1. A handful of ‘base level’ or throw away sites. These sites once they are ranking in the search engine are purely used to link and build ‘link juice’ for the middle range of promotional sites. These 3 to 4 sites only link to around 5-6 mid level promotional sites.

Section 2. Here I have around 5-6 mid level sites, from various domains. Some from blogspot.com, some from orble.com and a few owned domains of mine. With these sites (they have various PR, from 0 to 3) I purely write content and link to my network of 30+ adsense sites. These sites have slightly better quality than the level 1 sites and obviously all hold better link juice and work well from all domains.

Section 3. The Front Line. Here I have 30+ sites all pulling in AdSense revenue. Some of the newer video sites I released in the past month have quickly had 50+ pages spidered by Google which is exciting.

(Now I simply find the strongest and least busiest keywords in each niche and hit them big time with backlinks and cross referencing for best results)

I’d like to hear your thoughts or tips on how you build your network and achieve good results.

You have probably noticed here at 30 Day Man, my posts have dropped right back from a daily occurrence to sporadic at best. This is a direct result of my push to drive my earnings from my AdSense network. I just did some numbers and my list of sites probably exceeds 50 now.

Of this 50, probably only 3 of my websites require daily updating, quality content and maintenance. The rest are fairly static and the maintenance required is more around link building and improving their rankings in the search engines.

My policy recently has been to increase the amount of average websites I have to multiply earnings. 1000 x blogs earning $1 each seems easier than a single blog earning $1000 .. ? Right? Well I am not so sure and I think various people would answer differently.

Do you have a massive portfolio of MFA (Made for AdSense) type websites? Are they earning a good return each day? How fresh is the content? Is it hard to maintain? How do you keep you Google SERPS strong?

A few weeks have passed now since I went live; a few of the sites I created were:

Firstly, take a look at these sites by clicking the links above. Then go to google and do a search for (be sure and click - ‘repeat the search with omitted results’ when Google lists the results - so you get the full listings of the indexed pages)

a. You should see 14 indexed pages. Not bad for a thrown up site, it seems after a tiny bit of link building this site has been spidered a little deeper and more pages are being added daily.

b. 27 pages indexed! Amazing. (Remember to click ‘omitted results’)

c. Close to 60 index pages or at least links or references from other sites including YouTube. (This is a stunning result)

It’s certainly been an interesting test and I would recommend the niche video site creation software to others. Having a server based creation client to all the work is great, the only hard part is performing some minor SEO work to boost your content up the rankings.

My AdSense has seen some nice growth, I now average over 3000 hits daily and am managing earnings of $15 a day - which is getting ever closer to my target of $100 US per day.

The Wiggles

I am really tired at the moment, a few nights of networking with various locals and officials (read: partying) it has taken it’s toll and the game hasn’t even started yet. Kick off is tonight at 7.30 and I am hoping to snare a few exclusives from the event. Have cameras ready and should have some live material up on YouTube in no time.

Am staying at Broadbeach which is a popular spot only 10 minutes from Surfers Paradise and has the Conrad Jupiters Casino and other handy local sports such as the Pacific Fair shopping centre and Oasis Shopping Mall right near by. (Oasis provides free wireless internet in their mall which is ok) It’s only 802.11b and speed is average at best, but it does the job for basic connectivity and it’s free - so all good.

Telstra provide a hotspot at good speeds but pricing is very expensive and certainly not worth it for most applications.

My growth with AdSense is going well, am now earning $13 US consistently each day and as it continues to grow - I get closer to my target of $100 US per day as soon as possible.

Am planning to launch some more niche sites next week and continue to link build and SEO my current crop of landmarks

But alas! No …

It’s a shame, because they are going to be teaching some nice internet marketing techniques by the sounds of things. In other news I have been pretty busy link building of late, trying to promote some of my new sites which feature a large array of video scraps - some are pulling in strong hits from the SERPS and bounce rate and other stats have been strong, showing that the content is well targetted and not too spammy.
